Synergia Applications

We have focused our efforts on space charge, with applications to the FNAL Booster and the CERN PS. New dynamic effects that will be incorporated in the Synergia framework include beam-beam interactions, impedance and wakefields, and the generation and interaction of an electron cloud with a beam.

BeamBeam3d Applications

BeamBeam3d is a code whose original mission was using the electromagnetic Poisson solver to calculate the effect of disruptive effect of bunch collisions. It has been extended to include resistive wall impedance, chromaticity and other real-world measured beam optics. The BeamBeam3d solver and other physics processes will be incorporated into the Synergia framework.

Being able to simultaneously calculate multiple physical processes will allow us to investigate strong-strong beam-beam effects at the FNAL Tevatron, high intensity FNAL Main Injector and Booster operations, and ILC component modeling, especially the damping ring and interaction point.
